1. Cabbage Tree Palm Livistona australis
This palm is usually found in swampy sites on the margins of rainforest in Eastern Australia. Seeking protection from the sun, early European settlers in Australia used fibre from the native palm to create the cabbage tree hat, a distinctive form of headwear during the colonial era. This species can grow up to 25m and this is the only tree of its type in the park. The hard trunk wood can be used for building.
